House Measuring Guide
It is a lot simpler to measure your home than it may seem! All you need is a tape measure, our handy sketch template, and a pen!
DownloadAs an added bonus of saving £300 when you submit your own measurements to us, you also save a lot of time by avoiding the need for us to arrange and visit you, which means we can progress the project a lot quicker.
A lot of homes have very helpful estate agent plans. You can check if your house has any, by visiting the Right Move Sold Houses directory.
Below is the ideal list of items that we would require to accurately represent your house in our drawing packages:
- External photographs showing every side of the building and the garden, as well as a photograph from a little further away - i.e. the other side of the road
- Internal photographs of the stairs and landings, showing the number of steps
- Internal photographs of each room if possible
- Widths and lengths of all rooms
- Floor to ceiling height of each level
- Measurement of how far the stair is from an opposite wall
- A dimension from each door to its closest wall
- Window locating measurement taken from the nearest wall to the window opening
- Window width, height and window sill height measurements. If a window is above a staircase, then the window sill height should be taken from the landing level
- If your project is a loft conversion or extension, we will also require the distance between the loft joists and the underside of the ridge beam
